Our Story

Kevin and Staci Billy - Salt Creek Vizslas

Welcome to Salt Creek Vizslas. It all started in 2012 – At that time, Staci and I were looking for a sporting dog and drawn to the Vizsla because of their athleticism, size and temperament.

After settling on the breed, we found a responsible breeder and were placed on a puppy-list with Fire Mountain Vizslas. Months later, we got our first Vizsla, GCH Fire Mountain Wild Poppy SH, aka “Mika”.

At the time, we knew the basics about sporting dogs and we agreed that we would do more than just exercise our puppy: we decided to participate in a few AKC sanctioned events – Staci decided to learn conformation, and I about field work/hunting. As it turned out, a new journey was started and we haven’t looked back as we found ourselves buying new vehicles to help transport dogs to and from conformation events, spending weekend after weekend field training, buying crazy gear to support our new dog habits, learning to shoot and always loving it!

These activities eventually led us to competing and placing titles on our dogs with AKC in Conformation, Hunt Test, Scent Work, Field Trials and with NAVHDA.

Leap forward years, we now find ourselves as a Vizsla breeder and helping others achieve their goals with their Sporting dogs. Though our journey has been filled with many successes, it is not unique, as it has been shaped by our mentors and the Vizsla Community. Our breeding philosophy reflects our mentors’ passion to breed and promote a vizsla that is a keenly-driven bird-dog, that is healthy, with sound conformation and an even-temperament.
